PickMaster 3.20 supports besides the digital cameras and frame grabbers also Gigabit Ethernet camera standard. A major advantage is that the new cameras do not require a frame grabber.
Instead of using a Cognex framegrabber to transport the image from the camera to the PC, the communication will run over Ethernet.
The camera sends the images through a Gigabit Ethernet card installed in the PickMaster PC.
In case several cameras are used a Gigabit Ethernet Switch is required to increase the number of available input ports.
Triggering of the camera will be handled in the same manner as with the 8100d framegrabber, i.e. no I/O board is needed in the PC.
The Cognex license will be supplied on a USB-stick, as opposed to the current solution where it is located on the framegrabber.
The host PC must have at least one PCI-express slot to allow installation of the network card.
This bus standard is very common for new PC’s.
